Helping you cross the

legal finish line

Building Stronger Families For 30 Years

Over the last three decades, The Law Offices of Lorrie J. Zahodnic, P.C., has been helping families come together. Adoption cases require a lot of work on the legal side, and you need an attorney you can trust. We have been helping clients throughout Michigan when it matters most. Let us help you make your family complete.

Experience In Many Different Areas

We specifically have experience helping families dealing with stepparent adoption. It’s common for the spouse of one of the biological parents to want to adopt. In order to do so, you must meet certain criteria. First, the divorce of both biological parents must be final. Second, you must be married to one of the biological parents.

Even if the biological parents are divorced, you cannot adopt the child until the other parent has terminated their rights. If your former partner will not agree to do so, you can take them to court. We will have to show that they failed to contact the child for two years and did not financially provide for them, despite having the means to do so. It is not an easy process, but with our firm on your side we can fight for the family you dream of.
